PRESS RELEASE

A New Chapter Begins: Name Change

Lagos, Nigeria and New York, United States —  September 15, 2025 — After five years of growth and service, the Economic Club of Africa in New York, a non-profit organization dedicated to finance, innovation, and development in Africa, is proud to announce a full rebrand, including a new name: Economic Club of Africa Network (ECAN). This change reflects the organization’s evolving mission, expanded impact, and bold vision for the future.

Over the past five years, the organization has surpassed expectations and achieved transformational strides — expanding its reach, strengthening commercial ties, deepening innovation exchanges, and building lasting partnerships.

“We’ve grown tremendously since our founding in New York in 2020, so the new name captures who we are today, our vision for the future, and our expanding work across the African continent and other global hubs,” said Prof. Fred Olayele, Chair, Board of Directors, ECAN.

A premier networking platform and a trusted source of cutting-edge insights on strategic resource mobilization for Africa’s economic modernization drive, ECAN boasts a diverse membership base — comprised of global business leaders, entrepreneurs, diplomats, academics, policymakers, and civic leaders. Membership is by invitation only.

The new brand identity captures the club’s evolution, aspirations, and renewed focus on delivering greater value and actionable insights on development and resource mobilization across Africa.
